MEGA SUPERBET DEFEATED IN SPLIT
Mega Superbet basketball players were unable to extend their winning streak, as after three consecutive victories in Round 5 of the ABA League Play-out phase, they suffered a defeat away to Split at Gripe, 74–96 (17:25, 15:24, 19:21, 23:26). The team coached by Vule Avdalović found themselves in double-digit deficit after 20 minutes, played better after halftime, but failed to close the gap, and the home team secured the win. Mega Superbet remains in a good position regarding Play-in qualification and sits in second place in the Play-out standings with a 9–12 record, while Split is at 5–16.
The best performers for Mega Superbet were Bogoljub Marković with 23 points and 12 rebounds (efficiency rating 28), Karel Luk with 20 points and five rebounds, and Savo Drezgić with 15 points and eight assists.
For Split, Zoran Dragić scored 21 points, Demajeo Wiggins added 16, Dario Drežnjak had 15, Antonio Jordano 14, and Tejvon Myers 13 points.
The game started evenly, with Mega holding a slight lead after four minutes, but Split soon took control of the score. However, Avdalović’s team did not allow the hosts to pull away completely, though they were still trailing after 10 minutes (17:25). In the second quarter, Split quickly built a double-digit lead and at one point extended it to over 20 points, while Mega managed to slightly close the gap by the end of the first half, which ended 49:32 in favor of the home team.
Mega tried in every way to get back into the game in the second half, but could not significantly reduce the deficit, entering the final period down 70:51. The Croatian team maintained a large lead in the fourth quarter as well, making it clear early on that Mega would not be able to stage a comeback, and the game ended in their defeat.
