MEGA SUPERBET TO OPEN PLAYOFFS IN PODGORICA, BARAĆ: “WE KNOW WHO THE FAVORITE IS, BUT MY TEAM KNOWS NO FEAR”
Mega Superbet will face Budućnost in the first round of the ABA League playoffs. The series is played in a best-of-three format, and Game 1 is scheduled for Sunday, May 11, at 9:00 PM in Podgorica’s Morača Hall, with live coverage on TV Arena Sport.
Mega Superbet’s head coach Marko Barać reflected on the season so far, after his team finished the regular phase of the regional competition with a 16–14 record:
“An outstanding season for us. We built a team that’s fairly inexperienced at this level of competition, but one that’s full of talent and, as it turns out, ready to work extremely hard to achieve its goals. Our mission was to grow as a team through the individual development and progress of our players, and to be prepared to compete with every opponent throughout the season. Our roster was met with skepticism from the basketball community, but we quickly proved that we know how to play the game. I’m very happy with how the team has grown over the course of the season and how we’ve established a nice streak of playoff basketball,” said Barać.
He’s expecting a thrilling ABA League postseason:
“I believe this will be the most competitive playoff yet. This year’s edition of the ABA League has shown it’s a league of top quality. With the addition of two new teams, the league has gained more diversity and depth, as reflected in the results throughout the season. We’ve also seen our EuroLeague teams finish in different positions than usual, and that promises an exciting playoff.”
He also commented on the upcoming opponent — Podgorica’s Budućnost, the top-seeded team in the league:
“Budućnost finished the regular season in first place in dominant fashion. They’re playing excellent basketball and, so to speak, hit the mark with their choices at key positions. I congratulate them on everything they’ve done so far. In that context, it’s clear who the favorite is, but I’m confident that my team knows no fear, and that we will approach this series the same way we’ve approached every game so far,” Barać concluded.
Mega Superbet’s point guard Mihailo Petrović emphasized that the team isn’t content just making the playoffs:
“We’re facing Budućnost in our first playoff game — a team that finished first in the regular season and is playing great basketball. While we’ve achieved our goal by reaching the playoffs, we’re definitely not stopping there. We’ve had a good week of practice, and we’ll carry that energy into the game as we look for a positive result,” added Petrović.
Mega Superbet played two very competitive games against Budućnost this season. In Podgorica, they stayed close until the very end but fell 69–77, while they cruised to a convincing 93–79 win at home.
Game 2 of the playoff series is scheduled for Friday, May 16, at 7:00 PM, at Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall in New Belgrade.
