AVDALOVIĆ: “WE STRUGGLED IN THE FIRST HALF, THEN REDUCED TURNOVERS AND IMPROVED SHOT SELECTION – AND DESERVEDLY WON”
Mega Superbet recorded another victory in the second phase of the ABA League, defeating Borac from Čačak 95–77 (26:28, 20:16, 22:21, 27:12) in a Round 3 matchup at Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall. Coached by Vule Avdalović, Mega broke their opponent’s resistance in the final quarter, building a decisive lead within minutes and comfortably holding on until the end. With this win, Mega climbed to second place in the play-out standings with a record of 8–11, while Borac remained on seven wins (7–12).
Mega Superbet head coach Vule Avdalović shared his impressions at the post-game press conference:
– The result is better than the performance we showed, especially in the first half, where we struggled with their aggressive defense, which they are known for. We prepared as much as we could, but credit to Borac for their play, particularly in the first half, as well as for the way they’ve been playing throughout the season. They are a quality team with excellent chemistry and score a lot of points from fast breaks — they got 29 points against us from our mistakes. At one point, we reduced the number of turnovers and improved our shot selection, especially in the fourth quarter when we broke the game open and secured a well-deserved win. I also congratulate Borac – they played a quality game, one that was enjoyable for the fans. We need to put this match behind us, as two tough away games await us, and we need to prepare as best as possible for them,
said Avdalović.
In the next round of the ABA League play-out phase, Mega Superbet will play away against Krka in Novo Mesto on March 19 at 18:00.
