MEGA SUPERBET FALLS SHORT IN VIENNA
Mega Superbet’s basketball team was unable to secure their second ABA League victory, losing a hard-fought battle on the road in Vienna in Round 3, with a final score of 81–88 (24:19, 19:28, 24:29, 14:21). Coach Vule Avdalović’s squad started strong and led after the first quarter but were trailing by halftime. Despite a solid response in the third quarter, entering the final period with a tied score, the more experienced home team managed to take control in the closing minutes and seal the win. After three games, Mega now holds a 1–2 record, while Vienna earned their second win (2–1).
Mega Superbet’s standout performer was Savo Drezgić with 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. He was followed by Lazar Gačić with 14 points (5 rebounds), and Urban Kroflič who added 13 points (6 rebounds).
For Vienna, Gregor Glas led the way with 20 points, while Rasid Mahalbašić added 14. Suleiman Boum, Lovro Runjić, Simas Jarumbauskas, and Tekele Cotton each chipped in 10 points.
Mega opened the game on fire with an 8–0 run, but the hosts quickly responded and tied the score. Avdalović’s team regained control and even led 22–14, but Vienna closed the quarter strong, narrowing the gap to five (19–24). Continuing their momentum into the second quarter, Vienna managed to turn things around and took the lead. Mega stayed close but couldn’t regain the advantage, heading into halftime down 47–43.
Mega kept fighting in the third quarter and eventually took the lead again with under two minutes left, thanks to three straight points from Kroflič. The quarter ended in a 67–67 tie. The first half of the final period belonged to Mega, who managed to hold a slim lead, but a strong run by the home team gave them a double-digit advantage with two minutes to go. Mega didn’t give up, but ultimately couldn’t mount another comeback.
In the next round, Mega Superbet will face Crvena zvezda on the road, with the game scheduled for Saturday, October 25 at 8:00 PM.
