BARAĆ: “FOURTH MATCH AGAINST BORAC, TONIGHT THEY WERE BETTER; NOTHING WAS GOING OUR WAY IN THE SECOND HALF”

In the postponed match of the first round of the Serbian Super League, the Mega MIS basketball players lost in Čačak to Borac Mozzart 87:82 (23:21, 17:26, 24:16, 23:19). After an even fight in the first period, Marko Barać’s team gained a significant advantage in the second. It seemed to have established control, but a strong response from the home team followed after returning from the big break. There was a big battle in the third quarter, the teams took turns in the lead, and Borac met the last break with a point in excess. However, in the middle of the decisive period, the home team broke away, gained a double-digit lead, and eventually won.

After the first defeat, Mega MIS remains in first place in Group B with a 3-1 score, which Borac also achieved, but Barać’s team kept the advantage in the head-to-head matches, as they won the first meeting with a team from Čačak 92:78. Vojvodina is third with 2-2 and Metalac last with 0-4.

Coach Marko Barać gave his impressions after the game:

I am not satisfied with any defeat. As for the game, there is great respect for that team, this is the fourth game we have played, and each one was specific in its way. They were better tonight. Nothing went our way in the second half; we missed many open shots. Considering the way Borac plays defense on their home court, it is very important that you hit something from the outside. We were burdened with fouls and huge minutes of the backcourt, and we failed to keep the aggressiveness of their best players, who expertly used it, punished us, and made the difference in the second half, which we tried to reach and preserve that difference from the first match,

Barać said.

Captain Luka Cerovina points out that it is now up to his team to win the remaining matches against Vojvodina and Metalac:

We played a solid first half, had a lead of seven points, and in the second half, we did not manage to defend everything we agreed on during the break, but also in the three days of preparation for the match. Unfortunately, we lost; it’s up to us to win two games and keep the lead. Congratulations to Borac on the victory,

Cerovina added.

The next match for Mega MIS basketball players is scheduled for Thursday, May 25, from 17:00 in the Mega Factory hall, and the opponent is Vojvodina.
