Mega MIS basketball players celebrated in the first match in the Serbian Super League this season, as they beat Vojvodina 74:83 (15:20, 19:23, 16:22, 24:18) in Novi Sad. Marko Barac’s team opened the game very well and gained control in the first quarter. In the middle of the second, they gained 14 extra points, but the host refused to give up. Nevertheless, Mega was constantly in the lead, and at the end of the third quarter, they took the lead with plus 17. They kept the surplus in the decisive period and more than deservedly achieved their first victory in the Super League.

Coach Marko Barać first expressed his condolences to the victims of the tragedy that happened today in the Belgrade elementary school “Vladislav Ribnikar”. The meeting in Novi Sad started with a minute’s silence on that occasion.

It was not easy to play today. Such is the job and as professionals, we perform it with pleasure, but I must take the opportunity to wish recovery to all the injured and express my deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims,

Barac said.

Then he reflected on the match:

We controlled the result from the very beginning. The opening of the second half, and two three-pointers, the first without rotation to help on the low post, the second in a counterattack somehow sobered us up early and forced us to settle down and play much better defense. We won on a field where it is not easy to win. Our ambition is the same in every game in the Superliga. Let’s move on, we have a lot of obligations ahead of us in the ABA League and the Super League, I wish Vojvodina the best of luck in the future,

Barac added.

Filip Jović also gave his impressions after the triumph.

First of all, I would like to thank the Vojvodina team for a fair and correct game. We controlled the match from the beginning of the game, except at the beginning of the second half, but later we continued to play our game, with a stronger defense and we knew what we were doing in attack and in the end we deservedly won,

pointed out Jović.

On Sunday, the Mega MIS basketball players will have a rematch of the ABA League quarter-final series against Budućnost in Sremska Mitrovica from 18:00 in the PSC Pinki hall, while next Wednesday they will host Metalac in the continuation of the fight in the Super League.
