TRIUMPHANT START OF MEGA MIS IN SUPER LEAGUE OF SERBIA, VOJVODINA DEFEATED IN NOVI SAD

Mega MIS basketball players celebrated in the first match in the Serbian Super League this season, as they beat Vojvodina 74:83 (15:20, 19:23, 16:22, 24:18) in Novi Sad. Marko Barac’s team opened the game very well and gained control in the first quarter. In the middle of the second, they gained 14 extra points, but the host refused to give up. Nevertheless, Mega was constantly in the lead, and at the end of the third quarter, they took the lead with plus 17. They kept the surplus in the decisive period and more than deservedly achieved their first victory in the Super League.

Mega MIS thus started the fight in the Super League of Serbia in the best way, while the Novi Sad players suffered their first defeat (1-1). Metalac has a 0-1 score, while Borac Mozzart has not yet made an appearance due to obligations in the playoffs for survival in the ABA League.

In Novi Sad, Danko Branković dominated, finishing the match with 27 points and 12 rebounds for a PIR of 36. He was followed by Malcolm Cazalon with 25 points, while Aleksa Uskoković flirted with a triple-double, as he scored nine points, with seven rebounds and assists. Filip Jović made a valuable contribution from the bench with eight points and five rebounds in 22 minutes of play.

For Vojvodina, Dušan Beslać scored 22 points, Marko Ljubićić and Nikola Manojlović added 11 each, while Nikola Gaćeš scored 10.

The home team opened the game with a three-pointer, but Mega responded with nine tied points. On two occasions, Mega then had an eight-point lead in the opening quarter, to take the first break at 20:15. In the middle of the second part, Barać’s team reached a 14-point advantage, but Vojvodina showed a reaction at the end of the half, so after 20 minutes of play, the scoreboard read 43:34 in favor of Mega.

At the beginning of the third quarter, the team from Novi Sad reduced the deficit to only two points, only for Mega to push back the rivals with a 12:4 run, and then at the end of the section, they further increased the surplus and met the decisive quarter with plus 15. Vojvodina managed to reduce the deficit for a short time to a single-digit number of points at the end of the match, but it was too late for Barac’s team to seriously shake things up. There was no drama in Novi Sad, Mega won.

On Sunday, the Mega MIS basketball players will have a rematch of the ABA League quarter-final series against Budućnost in Sremska Mitrovica from 18:00 in the PSC Pinki hall, while next Wednesday they will host Metalac in the continuation of the fight in the Super League.
