BARAĆ: “WE HAVE NOTHING TO REGRET; OPPONENTS CLOSER IN QUALITY AND AN OPPORTUNITY TO CONTINUE IN THE RIGHT RHYTHM ARE AHEAD OF US”

After four consecutive triumphs, the Mega MIS basketball players met Partizan Mozzart Bet in the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall in the 18th round of the ABA League. Still, they failed to continue their winning streak 78:103 (17:28, 20:37, 20:20, 21:18). In the first quarter, Marko Barać’s team coped relatively well with Željko Obradović’s Euroleague squad. Still, in the second half, the black and whites could not miss and built a significant advantage until halftime, which was unattainable for the young Mega team. In the second half, Barać’s team managed to outpace the rival, which is a good sign for the continuation of the fight for the playoffs. After 18 rounds, Mega has a 7-11 score, while Partizan recorded its 16th triumph (16-2).

Coach Marko Barać gave his impressions at the press conference after the match:

I would like to congratulate Partizan on their well-deserved victory. They took this game very seriously, and when a Euroleague team like this does it against us at this moment, the result is what it is. They are probably the best offensive team in Europe right now. They forced us into too many rotations and open spaces in the first half, and then they punished our every mistake. They had a significant shooting percentage in the first half. On the other hand, we did not find a solution to their defense with a takeover. We tried to attack that defense a little faster before it was set up, but it didn’t work. I have to congratulate my boys for the second half. They showed a reaction at certain moments and delivered a very nice attacking game, but we needed more physical strength and more players to capture the result connection. We have nothing to regret. Partizan is a team that plays phenomenally; it’s a pleasure to watch them, and in front of us now are opponents who are closer to us in terms of quality, and this is an opportunity to continue in the right rhythm,

said Barac.

In the next round, Mega MIS basketball players will visit the Studentski centar team in Podgorica, and the match is scheduled for Saturday from 4:30 p.m.
