AVDALOVIĆ: “I CONGRATULATE THE PLAYERS FOR THEIR FIGHTING SPIRIT, THEY NEVER GAVE UP FOR A SINGLE MOMENT”

Mega Superbet basketball team suffered a defeat in the opening game of the Serbian Basketball League (KLS) play-in, losing to FMP 77-80 (21:16, 20:15, 11:30, 25:19) at the Dejan Milojević Training Center. Vule Avdalović’s team started the game strongly, taking a five-point lead after the opening 10 minutes and doubling it by halftime. However, the visitors completed a comeback in the third quarter and took control of the game. Mega fought until the very end and attempted to regain the lead, cutting the deficit to just one point in the closing moments, but failed to turn the game around and now trail 0-1 in the best-of-three series.

Mega Superbet head coach Vule Avdalović shared his impressions at the postgame press conference:

– Congratulations to FMP on a well-deserved victory. We played pretty well for most of the game, considering that this lineup has practiced together for only five or six days, so we didn’t have enough time to build chemistry. We lost control in the third quarter, where they created the difference and ultimately deservedly won. We tried to come back in the final quarter and fought until the end. I would also like to congratulate my players for their fighting spirit — they never gave up for a single moment. We had a chance to complete the comeback, but it didn’t happen, and now we need to rest as best as possible and prepare for the next game,

said Avdalović.

Bogoljub Marković also briefly analyzed the first game and looked ahead to the upcoming rematch:

– Congratulations to FMP on a deserved win. We had energy and a good approach, but that third quarter, where we came out too soft, cost us in the end. We still had a chance to win, but a couple of shots that didn’t go in led to the defeat. I’m optimistic about the next game and can’t wait for it,

added Marković.

The rematch is scheduled for May 12 at 6:00 PM at FMP’s arena in Železnik.
