AVDALOVIĆ: “PERHAPS THE TOUGHEST GAME TO MANAGE THIS SEASON, A WELL-DESERVED VICTORY IN THE END”
Mega Superbet basketball players recorded an important overtime victory against Krka, winning 103:98 (15:17, 26:31, 27:16, 14:18, 21:16) in Round 6 of the ABA League Play-out at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall. Vule Avdalović’s squad found themselves trailing after the first half but managed to orchestrate a comeback in the third quarter and establish control. The guests fought for every possession in an attempt to get back into the game, but Mega successfully repelled their surges until the final moments, when Krka managed to close the gap and force overtime in the closing seconds. Nevertheless, Avdalović’s team showed strong character in the additional five minutes to secure a valuable triumph, improving their record to 10-13, while handing the Slovenian team their 15th defeat (8-15).
Mega Superbet head coach, Vule Avdalović, shared his thoughts at the post-game press conference:
“This was perhaps the toughest game to manage this season. Krka is a high-quality opponent; they play with great discipline on both ends of the floor, making them very difficult to face. It was the same in Novo Mesto—a very challenging game for us. In the first half, we committed a large number of errors that weren’t necessarily forced by Krka’s players. We had 15 turnovers, which is quite a high number, and it’s difficult to play that way. Once we reduced that number in the second half and found better solutions on offense, our play became more fluid, leading to 27 points in the third quarter and 21 in overtime. Because of those early struggles, we couldn’t secure a calmer finish; we had the game won in the fourth quarter, but credit to Krka for their fighting spirit and dedication—they simply didn’t give up until the end. It wouldn’t have been undeserved had they won, but today it was us. I want to congratulate my players for finding the strength when things weren’t going our way, overcoming the deficit, and ultimately claiming a well-deserved victory,” said Avdalović.
In the next round of the ABA League Play-out phase, Mega Superbet will travel to Podgorica to face SC Derby. The game is scheduled for Monday, April 13, at 18:00.
