AVDALOVIĆ: “WE’RE EAGERLY AWAITING THE SEMIFINAL”

Mega Superbet players defeated OKK Beograd in the quarterfinals of the Radivoj Korać Cup in Niš, 100–79 (29:22, 30:14, 23:13, 18:30). Vule Avdalović’s team pulled away in the second quarter, further increased the lead in the third, and then comfortably closed out the game in the fourth. Mega Superbet will face the winner of the Partizan–FMP matchup in the Cup semifinals.

Mega Superbet head coach Vule Avdalović shared his impressions at the post-game press conference:

First of all, congratulations to OKK Beograd, their coaching staff, and all their players. They’re having a good season, they’re a very young team, and they have several interesting players who will be ones to watch in the future. The difference in level was evident, and aside from the last quarter, when we didn’t play as well, the previous three quarters were how they should be. There were some mistakes too — there isn’t much time to fix them. We play the semifinal tomorrow, we’ll see who our opponent will be. We’re eagerly awaiting it, whoever wins the next game. I hope for an interesting matchup.

Bogoljub Marković also shared his thoughts:

The first game in a cup competition is always full of nerves. I think no one besides me had played in this cup before. We tried to stay at the highest possible level and made sure not to underestimate our opponent. It was important to get a feel for the court and the ball… We also showed some bad sides tonight. As always, we know what we need to do, and that’s our focus going forward.

Mega Superbet will play for a place in the Radivoj Korać Cup final on Friday, February 20, at 20:30.
