AVDALOVIĆ: “WE SHOWED GREAT TOUGHNESS AT TIMES – THAT’S THE WAY WE WANT TO PLAY”

Mega Superbet’s basketball team delivered an excellent performance in front of their home crowd at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall, defeating Ilirija convincingly 109–83 (23–24, 34–18, 26–18, 26–23) in the 5th round of the ABA League. Vule Avdalović’s squad started the game a bit slower but found their rhythm midway through the first quarter and pulled ahead to a double-digit lead in the second. They continued their great play after halftime, steadily increasing the advantage and entering the final quarter with a 23-point margin. After just a few minutes in the last period, it became clear that Mega would claim a dominant victory, improving their record to 2–3 and handing the Ljubljana side their third defeat (1–3).

Mega Superbet’s head coach Vule Avdalović shared his impressions at the post-game press conference:

– We started the game poorly, and that’s not the way we should open. We lacked physical contact, and Ilirija — a team I believe has a quality roster — knew how to take advantage of that. The game would have continued in that rhythm if we hadn’t changed our approach. We showed great toughness at certain moments, especially in the second quarter, when we scored a large number of points from fast breaks. That’s the style we want to play. I’d like to congratulate Ilirija on a good game and on what they’ve achieved so far this season. I think we played well for most of the game. We had some issues from the free-throw line, where our percentage wasn’t high, but what’s very important for us is that we didn’t have many turnovers. That’s something we still need to work on so we can continue improving as the season goes on.

said Avdalović.

Mega Superbet’s next ABA League game is scheduled for November 14, when they will visit Zadar in the 7th round. In the meantime, they will play their second Winline Basket Cup match, hosting Lokomotiv Kuban on Tuesday, November 4, at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall.
