BARAĆ: “WE SHOWED THE DESIRE THROUGH THE OFFENSIVE REBOUNDS, BUT IT WASN’T OUR NIGHT”

Mega MIS basketball players did not manage to make a surprise in Ljubljana and end the league part of the competition in the ABA League with the win over Cedevita Olimpija. Mirsad Alilović’s more experienced team celebrated in front of their fans with 85:70 (26:11, 17:23, 19:18, 23:18). In the end, it turned out that the advantage that the host gained in the opening quarter was crucial. The young team of Marko Barać managed to reduce the minus of 15 points to five, but the host defended himself, prevented a complete reversal, and in the first part of the decisive quarter, removed all doubts about the winner.

Coach Marko Barać gave his impressions at the press conference after the match:

I congratulate the home team on their well-deserved victory. From the very beginning, they showed a reaction to the previous game, which was expected. They opened pretty hard, to which we did not respond appropriately. Too many points in the first quarter at the rim from inside and penetration. They built themselves a confidence that lasted throughout the game. On the other hand, we showed desire through many offensive rebounds and dominance in that segment, but we did not properly convert it into quality play. In addition to the fact that Cedevita played quality defense, we needed a better flow of the ball, as evidenced by the ratio of assists and turnovers. It wasn’t our night; we weren’t ourselves. I congratulate the host once again on his victory and wish him luck until the end of the competition,

said Barac.

Mega MIS ended the league part of the competition with a 12-14 performance and will know their opponent in the playoffs by the end of the 26th round. If there are no major surprises and Partizan Mozzart Bet justifies the role of favorite in Zadar, Barać’s team will meet the Budućnosti VOLI team in the quarterfinals.
