BARAĆ: “AFTER THE RESULT WHICH WAS NOT IN OUR FAVOR, WE MANAGED TO CONTROL THE SITUATION AND REBOUNDING, AND END THE MATCH AS WE WANTED”

The basketball players of Mega MIS qualified for the semi-finals of the Radivoj Korać Cup by defeating the Vojvodina team 75:62 (19:18, 25:20, 19:14, 12:10). Marko Barać’s team did not open the match well, they quickly found themselves in a double-digit deficit. Still, they managed to respond on time and, already in the first quarter, reached a turning point. They soon established control in the second period, and although the Novi Sad team did not give up, Mega did not let go of the advantage until the end. Thus, they secured a place among the four best teams in Nis, and for the final, they will fight with the better team in the duel between FMP Soccer Bet and Metalac from Valjevo.

Coach Marko Barać gave his impressions after the match:

I congratulate my players on the completed work and placement in the next phase. In preparation, we had a few days to scout the opponent and see that it was a good team with several good individuals. I expected that the teams from, conditionally speaking, the lower rank would play with great motivation, with a lot of ferocity and aggressiveness, and that the game would reward them by making a lot of shots in the opening minutes. We have been preparing for this crisis management all week. After a result that was not in our favor, we managed to control the situation and return the game to calmer flows. In the first half, we failed to establish dominance in rebounding, which was one of the tasks. In the second, we took control under both hoops, received protection from our players that were to be expected, and as a result, managed to bring the game to an end. Vojvodina is an excellent team, with a pronounced inside game, Beslac, who creates many problems, and it was certainly not easy. I also congratulate them on a good match, and I wish them to achieve all their goals,

said Barac.

The semi-finals are scheduled for Friday, February 17, from 5:00 p.m.
