Mega’s 11:0 run for a big comeback in Novi Sad!

The players of Mega Mozzart defeated Vojvodina in Novi Sad with 79:83 (21:25, 24:17, 19:21, 15:20) within the second game of the semifinals of the Super League playoffs, and in that way they won series with 2-0 and advanced to the finals of the first part of the playoffs. Coach Vladimir Jovanovic’s team was trailing from 79:72 in less than three minutes until the end, but they made a big comeback and with a run of 11:0 came to victory and placement in the finals.

The most efficient in the ranks of Mega were Samson Ruzhentsev and Borisa Simanic with 16 points each. Nikola Gacesa stood out in the team of Vojvodina with 19 points.

In the final of the first part of the playoffs, Mega will meet the better team from the semifinal series Borac – Mladost, where the current result is 1:1, and the first match will be played on Sunday, May 22, in the Mega Factory hall in Belgrade.

Mega started the match with starting five Uskokovic, Ruzhentsev, Cerovina, Simanic, Musikic. A good start for Mega, which leads 7:15 after 4 minutes of play, with all the players from the starting five hitting baskets.. The home team is one point behind after several offensive rebounds, but Simanic and Ruzhentsev repel the attack of Vojvodina for an advantage of 21:25 after the first quarter.

Mega kept the advantage of up to 5 points until the middle of the second quarter, when Vojvodina took the lead with a run of 11:0, 41:34. However, Mega did not allow Vojvodina to break away until the end of the quarter, so the result at halftime is 45:42.

The home team had a plus 8 in the third section, but Mega managed to slowly melt that minus, but did not to equalized, so the result before the last quarter was 64:63. Mega managed to take a short lead at the beginning of the last quarter, but it seemed that the game was lost at 2:42 by the end when Rakićevic scored a three-pointer for the home team for 79:72. Mega played great in defense, reduced the difference from the free throw line so that after Simanic’s missed free throw, Ruzhentsev scored after an offensive rebound for 79:78. After turnover of the home team, Uskokovic hits a jump shot, and then steals the ball for the lay-up and a 79:82 advantage. Another good defense of Mega followed, after which Cerovina confirmed Mega’s victory with one free throw, 79:83.
