SERBIA LOST TO SPAIN AFTER OVERTIME IN THE U16 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTERFINALS

U16 Serbia national team lost to Spain with 72:71 (18:17, 17:10, 5:17, 17:13, 15:14) in the quarterfinals of the European Championship for players up to 16 years of age in Italy. After a thrilling finish of the regular 40 minutes and Spain’s points from a free throw line with 2 seconds to go, it was tense in the extra 5 minutes where Spain came to victory after a hit free throw after a technical foul of a player from Serbia with 2 seconds.

For Serbia’s cadets Nikola Djurisic played a great match where he had 10 points, 5 rebounds,1 assist and 1 steal in 20 minutes of play.

In the defeat of Bosnia and Herzegovina from Northern Macedonia with 76:64 in the battle for placement from 9th to 16th place Boris Milic had 4 points and 2 rebounds.

Serbia is expected to compete on Friday for a placement from a 5th to 8th place with Turkey, where a fifthranked team will secure participation in next year’s U17 World Cup.
