MEGA SUPERBET SCORED A GOLDEN VICTORY AGAINST SPARTAK
Mega Superbet secured a very important victory in Round 27 of the ABA League, defeating Spartak Office Shoes from Subotica 97:90 (30:25, 22:24, 27:18, 18:23) at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall.
After a closely contested first half, Marko Barać’s team delivered an excellent performance in the third quarter, building a double-digit lead. Spartak responded with a strong push, cutting the deficit to just two points. However, a scoring run led by Mihailo Petrović broke the visitors’ resistance and sealed a golden triumph for Mega in the playoff race.
With this win, Mega improves to a 14-13 record, matching Spartak and FMP, but currently holds the eighth spot—the last position that grants a playoff berth in the regional competition.
Mihailo Petrović had a phenomenal game, scoring 26 points, dishing out nine assists, and grabbing five rebounds for a performance index rating of 35. He was supported by Filip Jović and Bogoljub Marković, who each scored 16 points (Marković also had six rebounds), while Timotej Malovec (six rebounds) and Stefan Miljenović (five assists) added 10 points apiece.
For Spartak, Dušan Miletić led the way with 18 points, while Kaza Kajami-Keane and Rasir Bolton contributed 14 each.
The visitors from Subotica started the game better and led 10:3 after just two minutes of play. Mega responded midway through the quarter, cutting the gap to three, and Stefan Miljenović tied the game at 18:18 from the free-throw line with three minutes left in the quarter. Milijašević then hit a three-pointer to give Mega the lead, while Kayil and Jović helped Marko Barać’s team close the first quarter ahead 30:25.
Early in the second period, Milijašević’s three gave Mega a seven-point advantage, but Spartak managed to cut the deficit to just one. A three-pointer from Marković pushed Mega back up by seven (47:40) with under three minutes left in the half, but the visitors closed the quarter stronger. Still, Mega held a 52:49 lead going into halftime.
Spartak tied the game at the start of the third quarter, but Mega reacted well and soon earned their first double-digit lead at 67:57. Despite Spartak’s attempts to get back into the game, Mega extended their lead to 79:67 heading into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter began with an 8:0 run by the visitors, bringing them right back into contention. Mega held on with free throws, and then Mihailo Petrović stepped up—scoring nine consecutive points to push the lead to 90:81. That proved to be the decisive stretch, as Mega managed the closing moments from the free-throw line and secured a vital win in the race for the playoffs.
In the upcoming Round 28 of the ABA League, Mega Superbet will travel to Zagreb to face Cibona. The game is scheduled for Monday, April 21, at 9:00 PM.
