AVDALOVIĆ: “THE OPPONENT’S OFFENSIVE REBOUND IN THE FINAL MINUTES DECIDED THE WINNER”

Mega Superbet failed to bring the Serbian League quarterfinal series back to its home court, losing to FMP SoccerBet 99-95 (31-27, 21-13, 24-22, 23-33) in Železnik. With the defeat, Mega ended both its domestic playoff run and the 2025/26 season. Coached by Vule Avdalović, Mega opened the game well but found itself trailing by double digits midway through the second quarter. The visitors managed to cut the deficit in the third period, only for FMP to pull away again. Mega kept fighting until the very end, trimming the gap to just two points late in the game, but ran out of time to complete the comeback.

Mega Superbet head coach Vule Avdalović shared his thoughts at the postgame press conference:

Congratulations to FMP on a well-deserved win, and I wish them good luck at the Final Four. They were in front throughout the game, they were the better team today, they beat us four times this season and deserve credit for the entire year, both in the ABA League and now. We went through some roster changes compared to the ABA League season, we brought in five or six players from OKK Beograd and didn’t have enough time to build chemistry. The players who were here all season had to take on huge minutes, and I sincerely congratulate them for the entire season and for these two domestic league games, because they gave everything they had and put up a respectable fight against FMP. As for the game itself, our poor three-point shooting made the difference. We missed a lot of open shots. We also allowed too many offensive rebounds. That was something we focused on in scouting, but it also speaks to the opponent’s quality, because they have a strong roster and big players who crash the offensive glass very well. That ultimately decided the game. We had a chance to get back into it, but they grabbed an offensive rebound, then made two free throws afterward, and in the end that rebound decided the winner.

Mega Superbet player Bogoljub Marković also shared his impressions:

Congratulations to FMP on reaching the Final Four. I’m satisfied with the desire and fight we showed in both games, and I wish FMP good luck at the Final Four.
