AVDALOVIĆ: “SPARTAK’S WIN WAS DESERVED, WE HAVE TO LEARN THROUGH GAMES”

Mega Superbet suffered a defeat in the final round of the first phase of this season’s ABA League, as Spartak Office Shoes from Subotica defeated them 94–89 at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall (25:23, 21:16, 23:25, 25:25). After an evenly contested first half and a hard-fought third quarter, Vule Avdalović’s team managed to turn the game around and take a new lead in the final period, but failed to defend it in the closing moments. Mega battled until the very end, trying in every possible way to mount another comeback, but the visitors held on. Mega Superbet thus finished the group stage with a 6–10 record, while Spartak ended at an even 8–8.

Mega Superbet head coach Vule Avdalović shared his thoughts at the post-game press conference:

– Congratulations to Spartak and to head coach Vlada Jovanović, who is doing a great job there, on a well-deserved victory. I think they were the better team today, especially in terms of energy. In the first half they had more rebounds, and with the shooting percentages they posted, it was hard for us to respond in a positive way. We started the second half well, but it is unacceptable that in the last quarter, until the final two minutes, we didn’t take advantage of a single foul. We became a bit more aggressive afterward, but it was too late to get back into the game. The same mistakes keep appearing in every game analysis, which is probably normal for an inexperienced team like ours, but we have to learn through these games in order to be better in the next ones,

said Avdalović.

Mega Superbet will continue their ABA League campaign in the Play-Out phase, where they will face FMP in the first round of the second stage of the competition, on Sunday, February 15, in Železnik.
