MEGA SUPERBET LOSE IN TOUGH AWAY GAME IN LJUBLJANA
Mega Superbet opened their ABA League season with a defeat on a challenging road trip to Cedevita Olimpija in Ljubljana, 81:117 (17:29, 19:33, 22:29, 23:26). Vule Avdalović’s team offered solid resistance during much of the first quarter, but the hosts built a large lead in the following periods and successfully maintained it until the final buzzer.
For Mega Superbet, Bogoljub Marković stood out with 16 points and seven rebounds, Asim Đulović also scored 16, followed by Savo Drezgić with 14 points and seven assists, Urban Kroflič with 13 points, and Luigi Suigo with 11 points and five rebounds.
On the Cedevita Olimpija side, Umoja Gibson and Miha Cerkvenik led the scoring with 17 points each, Joseph Girard added 15, while DJ Stewart and David Škara contributed 12 points apiece.
The hosts opened the game with three consecutive three-pointers, signaling a strong shooting night. Avdalović’s young team managed to respond at times, creating good opportunities on offense through Marković, Drezgić, Đulović, Kroflič, and Suigo, but the Ljubljana squad established control, built a comfortable lead, and gradually increased it, finishing with impressive shooting percentages and handing Mega a defeat to start the new season.
In the next round, Mega Superbet will play their first home game of the season at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall, hosting Bosna. The match is scheduled for Sunday, October 12, at 12:00.
