AVDALOVIĆ: “THE SECOND QUARTER WAS DECISIVE – WE RESPONDED IN THE THIRD AND GOT BACK TO LEVEL TERMS, BUT IT WASN’T ENOUGH”

Mega Superbet basketball team suffered a loss in Round 8 of the ABA League play-out phase, as they were defeated in Podgorica by SC Derby with a score of 85:89 (22:21, 19:30, 24:16, 20:22). The team coached by Vule Avdalović started the game well, but the opponent caught up toward the end of the first quarter. A turnaround followed in the second period, while Mega fully recovered by the end of the third quarter. A fierce battle took place in the decisive quarter, but the home team secured the win in a close finish. Mega Superbet now holds a 10–14 record, while Studentski centar stands at 7–17.

Mega Superbet head coach Vule Avdalović shared his impressions at the post-game press conference:

– First of all, I would like to congratulate SC Derby on a deserved victory—they were the better team today. They were more focused than us for most of the game, especially in the last five minutes, where they turned a tied situation into a win. That’s where we lost strength and concentration, missed a few open shots, and failed to convert several good opportunities into points, so they deservedly won today. We opened the game well, but the second quarter was crucial, where they created a more significant gap. We responded in the third quarter and got back to an even score, but that wasn’t enough today. Their three-point shooting percentage was better. It was a tough, demanding game with a lot of fouls and interruptions, which is expected since SC Derby is fighting to stay in the league, while we are aiming for the best possible result by the end of the season. In any case, it was an interesting game, and congratulations to SC Derby on a deserved win,

said Avdalović.

In the next, 9th round of the ABA League play-out phase, Mega Superbet will host Split. The game is scheduled for Monday, April 20, at 19:00, at Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall.
