MEGA SUPERBET DEFEATED IN ŽELEZNIK AT THE START OF THE SECOND PHASE OF THE ABA LEAGUE
Basketball players of KK Mega Basket (Mega Superbet) lost their first game of the second phase of the ABA League in Železnik to KK FMP, 87–102 (17:32, 18:19, 28:25, 24:26). The team coached by Vule Avdalović fell behind by double digits already in the opening quarter, started playing better from the second period onward and were an equal opponent for the remainder of the game, but failed to cut the deficit and fully get back into contention. With results from the group stage carried over, Mega Superbet now stands at 6–11 after the loss in Železnik, while FMP holds a 7–10 record.
The best performers for Mega Super were Bogoljub Marković with 22 points and six rebounds (efficiency rating 22), and Savo Drezgić with 18 points and six assists (efficiency rating 21). They were followed by Asim Đulović (five rebounds) and Urban Kroflič (seven rebounds) with 12 points each, while Kajrel Luk added 10 points.
For FMP, Filip Barna scored 27 points, Kristjon Judžin added 17, while Lazar Stefanović (15), Josh Scott (11) and Nikola Gašić (10) also reached double figures.
Mega had a poor start to the game and found themselves trailing by double digits after just over four minutes of play. They managed to regroup following a three-pointer by Luk and free throws from Drezgić, but the hosts responded with another strong run to extend the lead, heading into the first break up 32–17. Mega struggled to find their rhythm for a long stretch and failed to do so in the second quarter as well, allowing the gap to grow. Kroflič and Marković connected several good plays late in the half, but Avdalović’s team still trailed 35–51 after 20 minutes.
Mega played better after the break but were unable to significantly reduce the deficit. FMP maintained their advantage, and after 30 minutes the scoreboard in Železnik showed 76–63 for the home side. Mega attempted to mount a comeback in the final quarter but fell short, managing only to trim the margin late in the game. In the end, it was a loss for Mega at the start of the second phase of the ABA League season.
Up next is the Radivoj Korać Cup in Niš, scheduled from February 18 to 21. Mega Superbet will face OKK Beograd in the quarterfinals on Thursday, February 19.
