BARAĆ: „A GREAT LEARNING EXPERIENCE, AND WE WILL CERTAINLY COME OUT OF THIS GAME BETTER“
The Mega Superbet basketball team was defeated in the last round of the ABA League as guests of Partizan, 82:89 (23:34, 16:20, 19:22, 24:13). Under the guidance of coach Marko Barać, the team was trailing by double digits for most of the game, but they managed to fight back in the final quarter. They reduced the deficit and came within four points, but didn’t have enough strength for a complete comeback. This ended Mega’s five-game winning streak, and they enter the playoffs as the 8th seed in the regional competition with a 16-14 record.
Coach Marko Barać shared his thoughts at the post-game press conference:
– Congratulations to Partizan on their deserved victory, the first quarter set the tone for the game. There was a huge gap, and our team wasn’t tough enough. We allowed too many points when we could have taken advantage of small fouls. When young players come into the game and hit a few shots, they think it’s possible to trade baskets and compete offensively with such a quality team. By the time we realized this, the gap was too big. I must praise my team for their character and fight in the second half. They were close on several occasions to a complete comeback. What was missing were a few quality box-outs and smarter decisions on offense, but it’s all part of a big learning experience, and we will definitely come out of this game better,
said Barać.
Mega Superbet will face Budućnost in the first round of the ABA League playoffs, which will be played in a best-of-three series. The first game will take place in Podgorica on Sunday, May 11, at 19:00.
