THE RADIVOJ KORAĆ CUP BEGINS, MEGA MIS IN THE QUARTERFINALS AGAINST VOJVODINA, BARAĆ: “APPROACHING THE MATCH WITH GREAT RESPECT, A VERY TOUGH TASK AWAITS US”

The Radivoj Korać Cup is beginning, and Mega MIS is in the quarterfinals against Vojvodina. Barać emphasizes the challenging task ahead, showing respect for the opponent. The tournament takes place from February 14 to 17 at Niš’s Čair Arena. Mega faces Vojvodina MTS on February 15 at 17:00. If successful, Mega will play in the semifinals against the winner of the Partizan Mozzart Beta vs. Hercegovac match.

Coach Marko Barać acknowledges the difficulty:

We approach the quarterfinal of the Radivoj Korać Cup with great respect. We have a very tough task against a team with experienced key players. We’ve scouted Vojvodina and are familiar with their playing style. I expect my players to be highly motivated and focused to fulfill the tasks needed to achieve our ambitions,” said Barać.

Center Uroš Plavšić, a key player for Mega MIS, expresses excitement for the tournament and highlights the physical readiness of Vojvodina. 

“We eagerly welcome the Cup, a different form of competition with numerous matches in just a few days. Vojvodina is a very quality and physically prepared team. We must be ready to respond to their aggression and competitiveness. Preparation is crucial, and we will give our all to come out as winners in that duel,” Plavšić added.

Barać will have a roster of 12 players, including Lovro Gnjidić, Omercan Ilyasoglu, Stefan Miljenović, Nemanja Popović, Petar Kovačević, Mihailo Milutinović, Nikola Đurišić, Andrija Jelavić, Timotej Malovec, Iilija Milijašević, Filip Jović i Bogoljub Marković.

Mega previously won the Korać Cup in Niš eight years ago. In 2014, they reached the final, and in 2015, 2021, and last year, they reached the last step.

In parallel, the Mini Kup Radivoja Koraća is being played in Niš this year. Mega MIS’s junior team, defending champions, will face Vojvodina in the quarterfinals. The matches are scheduled from February 15 to 17 at OŠ Dušan Radović and OŠ Mika Antić, with the final taking place at Čair Arena on Saturday at 13:30.

Mega’s junior team previously won the Mini Kup Koraća in 2017, 2018, and last year. Their journey for a new trophy starts on Thursday at noon against Vojvodina. In case of victory, they will face the winner of the Partizan vs. Hercegovac match in the semifinals. On the other side of the draw are matchups Borac Mozzart vs. Grad Niš and Crvena zvezda vs. FMP Meridian.
