BARAĆ: “LET’S LEARN LESSONS AND PREPARE IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY FOR THE SECOND MATCH”

Mega MIS basketball players suffered a defeat at the start of the playoffs of the ABA League in Podgorica, and Buducnost VOLI gained the advantage in the quarter-final series, which will be decided with two victories, with the result 94:77 (14:22, 35:15, 28: 18, 17:22). Marko Barać’s team opened the duel in Morača very well, won the opening quarter, and had a double-digit lead at the beginning of the second, but then with a furious run the home team, led by Erick Green, reached a turnaround, and at the end of the first half, even a double-digit surplus. Petar Mijović’s team doubled the advantage in the third period and very quickly removed all doubts about the winner.

Mega MIS coach Marko Barać gave his impressions at the press conference after the match:

An excellent first quarter from our side, I would say, the best this season. Good energy, we reduced Buducnost to 14 points and punished them offensively the way we prepared, and that’s practically the only thing I can be satisfied with. After that, we tried to change several guards on Green; he entered the zone and easily solved every situation on the field during the second quarter. This was followed by our loss of control in the attack, several hasty attacks, and ten turnovers in the first half, many of which in the second quarter caused an easy counterattack and points for Buducnost. In the first half, they scored 14 points that way and, with Green’s bravado, got away at halftime. For us, the bigger problem is that in the first half, rotation got reduced, as we experienced the absence of Petar Kovačević, the fourth tall player in the rotation; Grbović got injured very early, we will see what kind of nature it is. Until the end, we practically remained with two tall players on the roster, which Buducnost skillfully used in the second half. Energetically dominated that part of the field, Kamenjaš scored a huge number of points as the first in the counterattack from the second chance… I congratulate the Budućnost team on their well-deserved victory and thank the audience for the excellent atmosphere. We will look to learn from this game to prepare in the best possible way for the second game, and I hope to see you again,

said Barac.

The next match of the quarter-final series of the ABA League is scheduled for Sunday, May 7, from 18:00, and Mega MIS will host Budućnost in PSC Pinki Hall in Sremska Mitrovica.
