JOVANOVIC: “THE GAME WAS AS WE EXPECTED, WE HAD TO BE MORE AGGRESSIVE IN THE DEFENSE”

In the derby match of the 13th round of the ABA league, Mega Soccerbet lost to Cedevita Olimpija with 88:93 (29:28, 20:20, 21:24, 18:21) after a great fight. In the match that was played without the presence of the audience in the Hall of sports Ranko Zeravica, coach Vladimir Jovanovic’s team perfectly matched the guests from Slovenia for most of the game, but they awry up in the last five minutes of the game, so Cedevita Olimpija came to triumph.

At the press conference after the game, coach of Megea pointed out that the game was very good and as he expected:

– Congratulations to the Cedevita Olimpija team on the deserved victory. The match was very good, as we expected. Cedevita Olimpija team cultivates an attacking style of play and they did not surprise us with the way they tried to get us, and that is primarily by shooting for three points, in which they are among the best in the league. Practically, even in the moments when we played a solid defense, we received threes in the last second of the attack, which is somewhat depressing, so that was reflected in the attack. We managed to keep the equal result in the first half by controlling their running, but in the second half we allowed a large number of shots for three points, but I would not say from the built positions, but on those we could influence with fouls since in the third and the last quarter  we didn’t get out of the bonus either. We had to cut it, and we received threes from the transition and in the last moments of the attack, which affected the final result. They came here after two consecutive defeats eager to get back on the winning track. We have had good games lately, but I keep repeating that we are a very young team and it is very difficult for us to stay on the ground after good games. Regardless of the fact that my coaching staff and I try our best, sometimes these young players who show great talent sometimes slip away from us. In this game, we lacked a higher dose of aggression in defense and I think we lost the game there,
