WIN OF MEGA BEMAX IN FRONT OF CUP IN NIS, ASCERIC ONE STEP AWAY FROM TRIPLE-DOUBLE

Basketball players of Mega Bemax will welcome the Radivoje Korac Cup in a good mood after they beat Krka in Sremska Mitrovica within the 19th round of the ABA League with 80:72 (23:18, 25:15, 16:16, 16:23). The players of coach Dejan Milojevic had a double-digit advantage of up to 18 points during the most part of the game, while the hosts managed to reduce difference with couple of threes  to 4 points in the last quarter, but Mega denied the attack and eventually deservedly won. The coach of Mega Bemax at this match could not count on Adam Mokoka.

The best in the ranks of Mega Bemax was Luka Asceric, who almost had triple-double performance with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists with PIR 35. Dalibor Djapa scored 17 points for Krka.

After the 19th round of the ABA league, Mega Bemax is 5th with a score of 10-9 while Krka stayed at 5 victories. Mega expects in the next period Radivoje Korac Cup in Nis, where in the quarter-finals on February 15 at 5 pm they will meet with Borac from Cacak and the next opponent in the ABA League is Cibona, with which Mega will play in Zagreb on March 3.

Dejan Milojević started the match with Carapic, Asceric, Atic, Miskovic and Nikolic. Nikolic is good at the beginning of the match, and after the triple of Asceric, Mega leads 12:7. A few minutes followed without points on both sides, and then Asceric and Miskovic scored from the paint. Miskovic hits three, the guests return with the same measure but with new three pointer Asceric, Mega led with 22:16, and on the first break with 23:18.

Second quarter opened Carapic and Atic with lay-ups, and then Asceric continued the series from the first quarter by tying 8 points in a short period for the first double-digit lead of Mega, 37:24. Fundic is good under the basket, and Janjic and Atic are precise for three points, so that after Stanic’s score for 2 plus 1, Mega reached plus 18, 48:30. Djapa with triples for guests puts the result of a half, 48:33.

Nikolic and Asceric retained advantage of Mega at the start of the second half, which was 18 points at the most, but the visiting team does not allow Mega to definitely resolve the match, so the result with 10 minutes to go was 64:49.

Stanic is excellent on both sides of the pitch at the beginning of the fourth quarter and with 8 minutes to the end Mega has 16 points advantage, 70:54. There followed the weakest period Mega’s play in the match, where the guests with the 0:12 series with 3 triples approached to only 4 points behind with 5 minutes to the end. Next couple of minutes teams exchanged points, but Mega played hard in defense, and point to the win put Asceric with triple for 79:70 wiht 54 seconds to the end. The match finished with a score of 80:72.
