MEGA IN TIGHT FINISH LOST FROM BREMERHAVEN

Basketball club Mega Bemax failed to record a second victory in the preparations for the upcoming season as the German Bremerhaven won with 84:86 (20:24, 21:25, 23:23, 20:14) in the PSC Pinki Hall in Sremska Mitrovica. In the first half, Mega Bemax’s basketball players were losing by 13 points but they managed to return to the match several times. Although they were trailing eight points in two and a half minutes to the end, Mega’s players ultimately had an chance for overtime, but first Ennis did not hit the hard layup and then Lazic with tip-in tried to score for an extra five minutes, unfortunately without success.

The best in the ranks of Mega Bemax were Ennis with 24 points and Rebic with 23 while Hulls scored 16 points in the German team.

Ennis thoroughly opens the match with a few points, Rebic finds Fundic twice, but guests still manage to get the advantage with several hits from the distance. Rebic from the free-throw line does not allow them to go to bigger plus , so the result is after the first quarter 20:24. Bremerhaven players continue with a good shot and in the second quarter, the advantage grows to 9 points. Mega on a few occasions reduces the minus to 5-6 points, but in the finish, the guests make the series 0:7 for plus 13. Mega with two good defenses and the three of Marjanovic in the last second manages to drop the minus under 10 points for 41:49 at half-time .

The excellent defense of Mege at the start of the second half where the German team managed in four minutes to strike only one triple at the end of the attack. Rebic and Ennis reduce the minus, and in the middle quarter they brought a minimal lead. However, guests hit two triples and from the free throw line they reach the plus 8 before the last  10 minutes, 64:72.

Mega did not gave up in the last quarter, although the guests kept advantage with threes. At two and a half minutes to the end, at the plus 8 for guests, Rebic starts a series of points of Mega, first by the triple, and then with layups. Half a minute to the end at minus two, Mega successfully defends the attack, but unfortunately, from two attempts, it does not manage to go to overtime for the final 84:86.

The next control match is scheduled for September 5 from 18:30 in hall Mega Factory in Belgrade, and the opponent is Vojvodina.
