MEGA SUPERBET LOSES IN SUBOTICA AFTER TOUGH BATTLE

Mega Superbet’s basketball team failed to secure a victory on the road against Spartak in Subotica, suffering a defeat in Round 9 of the ABA League at Dudova Šuma Sports Hall, with a score of 73:85 (19:24, 25:18, 14:20, 15:23). Vuleta Avdalović’s squad played an excellent second quarter and went into halftime with a points advantage. The second half saw a fierce battle, with the lead frequently changing, until the home team gained a double-digit advantage in the middle of the fourth quarter. Mega managed to catch up but lacked the energy for a comeback. After eight games, Mega has a 2–6 record, while Spartak stands at 5–3.

The best performer for Mega Superbet was Bogoljub Marković with 21 points and five rebounds, followed by Asim Đulović with 17 points and seven rebounds. Savo Drezgić and Luigi Suigo each added eight points, with Suigo coming close to a double-double with nine rebounds. Kajrel Luk made his debut for Mega in Subotica, recording seven points and five assists. Due to injuries, coach Avdalović could not count on Urban Kroflič, Abdramane Sibi, and Lazar Gačić.

For Spartak, Stefan Momirov stood out with 21 points, while Olivier Henlan and Nikola Rebić each scored 13 points.

The home team started slightly better, taking a 7:2 lead, but Mega quickly responded with two three-pointers from Marković. The game remained close until halftime, with both teams exchanging leads, but Spartak was luckier at the end of the first quarter, leading 24:19. Mega immediately responded and, after just two and a half minutes, went ahead with an eight-point run. Mega maintained the lead until the final two minutes of the first half when the hosts turned the game around, but Avdalović’s players regained the advantage, heading into halftime at 44:42.

The third quarter continued with a tough battle at both ends, again featuring a seesaw scoreline, but the Subotica team managed to gain a small lead heading into the decisive final quarter (62:58). Spartak extended the lead to double digits in the middle of the fourth period. Mega caught up briefly, but Spartak secured the win in the final moments with long-range shots.

In the next, 10th round of the ABA League, Mega will host Zadar at Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall on Friday, December 12, at 18:00.
