AVDALOVIĆ: “IN THE SECOND HALF WE STOPPED PLAYING THE WAY WE DID IN THE FIRST HALF”

Mega Superbet’s basketball team failed to secure a victory on the road against Spartak in Subotica, suffering a defeat in Round 9 of the ABA League at Dudova Šuma Sports Hall, with a score of 73:85 (19:24, 25:18, 14:20, 15:23). Vuleta Avdalović’s squad played an excellent second quarter and went into halftime with a points advantage. The second half saw a fierce battle, with the lead frequently changing, until the home team gained a double-digit advantage in the middle of the fourth quarter. Mega managed to catch up but lacked the energy for a comeback. After eight games, Mega has a 2–6 record, while Spartak stands at 5–3.

Mega Superbet coach Vule Avdalović shared his impressions at the post-game press conference:

– Congratulations to Spartak on a well-deserved victory. They have an excellent team and a great coach, and they aim to be at the top of our group. I wish them all the best. We played a solid first half, despite having a shorter roster due to injuries. Also, Drezgić wanted to play even though he had a fever yesterday, and I commend his dedication. In the second half, we stopped playing the way we did in the first half. The number of assists—six in total, with only one in the second half – speaks to how we played. We did not play the right way, the way basketball should be played. On top of that, as a young team, we had many turnovers and continued to struggle with our defense throughout the season. If we don’t defend, we can’t run the game, which is what we want to do most. It’s up to us to regroup and find a way to get victories in the upcoming period,

Avdalović said.

In the next round of the ABA League, Mega will host Zadar at Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall on Friday, December 12, at 18:00.
